The Hampton String Quartet performs non-amplified renditions of rock from The Rolling Stones to Led Zeppelin all arranged by HSQ members.
Based in New York City, The Hampton String Quartet is one of the best-selling string quartets in the history of recording and the only one to be featured in a contemporary music video. Shortly after their first RCA Victor Red Seal album release, the group was invited to perform on CBSTV's 'Nightwatch', ABC-TV's 'Day's End', and NBC-TV's 'Today Show' with Bryant Gumbel and Jane Pauley.
They have appeared on various British radio and television shows, including the BBC's GLR Radio from London and Granada TV's 'This Morning' from Liverpool. Their 'Born To Be Wild', 'Roll Over Beethoven', and 'Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas' albums have received airplay on both classical and popular radio worldwide, and their Grammy-nominated music video has been broadcast across the U.S. and the U.K. Juilliard-trained, they arrange, compose and adapt their own music and co-direct and co-produce their current concerts and albums.
Performing in many different concert and broadcast venues, they have concertized internationally from New York City's Town Hall to London's Queen Elizabeth Hall and Bloomsbury Theatre to the United Nations. They have appeared live on New York's classical radio WNCN-FM and on its rock station WNEW-FM. The group has performed in concerts and recordings with Tom and Steve Chapin, the Brazilian singer Joyce, Leon Redbone, Scarlet Rivera and the Maryland Youth Symphony Orchestra. And they have performed in TV and film scores.

HSQ was awarded a 1988 Grammy Nomination for their 'Get A Job' music video in the Best Concept Music Video category of the 31st Annual Grammy Awards. They shared the spotlight with four other nominees in the same category - George Harrison, The Talking Heads, Weird Al Yankovic and Neil Young. They have been noted the top 15 positions, 'BILLBOARD's Top Classical Crossover charts, 1986-89 and Album Pick, BILLBOARD, 1988. WCBS-TV, New York City, chose The Hampton String Quartet for a news special broadcast immediately following the 1989 Grammy Awards Show.

Individually, HSQ's musicians bring to the concert stage and to their albums a wide array of musical experiences. They have appeared in concert the world over from Carnegie Hall to Moscow's Conservatory Hall, on number-one records from chamber music to rock, and as composers from ballet scores to works for HSQ. Each has performed and recorded with most of the Greater New York area's major opera, ballet, symphony and chamber ensembles, having toured with some of them internationally, and with countless musical superstars from Luciano Pavarotti to Paul Simon.
